Freehold Palimony Attorneys
Freehold, New Jersey, Palimony Law Attorneys
Palimony is a gender-neutral concept that applies to couples who are in a long-term relationship. A palimony contract can be verbal, implied or written. The palimony contract essentially promises that one party will financially support the other party should the relationship end for any reason. At the Law Offices of James M. Newman and Associates, LLC, we represent clients who are not receiving the palimony that was promised. We also defend against false palimony claims.

New Laws Regarding Palimony Agreements in New Jersey
In the past, New Jersey recognized palimony agreements that were implied or verbal. As of 2010, however, the New Jersey legislature now requires palimony agreements to be in writing and entered into with the advice of a lawyer to be binding. Couples can waive the advice of a family law attorney, but they must do so in a written, notarized statement.
As the party who has been supported, you may be entitled to monthly payments to pay for living expenses, real estate or housing, and education. You may also be entitled to property division of assets and property that were acquired during the course of the relationship. To learn more, please read our article.
Representing Parties in Heterosexual and Same-Sex Relationships

We use this knowledge to pursue favorable outcomes and solutions for our clients.
We approach each client's concerns with the individualized attention required. We understand relationships and ways of life vary from couple to couple. Whether your partner was wealthy and you quit work to maintain a household or you make a modest wage with your partner supporting the majority of your lifestyle, you may be entitled to sue for palimony.
